Running head: USING DECISION TREES TO PREDICT CRIME REPORTING

Crime reports are used to find criminals, prevent further violations, identify problems causing crimes and allocate government resources. Unfortunately, many crimes go unreported. The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) comprises data about incidents, victims, suspects and if the incident was reported or not. Current research using the NCVS is limited to statistical techniques resulting ...

Using reading behavior to predict grammatical functions

This paper investigates to what extent grammatical functions of a word can be predicted from gaze features obtained using eye-tracking. A recent study showed that reading behavior can be used to predict coarse-grained part of speech, but we go beyond this, and show that gaze features can also be used to make more finegrained distinctions between grammatical functions, e.g., subjects and objects...

A New Dynamic Random Fuzzy DEA Model to Predict Performance of Decision Making Units

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a methodology for measuring the relative efficiency of decision making units (DMUs) which ‎consume the same types of inputs and producing the same types of outputs. Believing that future planning and predicting the ‎efficiency are very important for DMUs, this paper first presents a new dynamic random fuzzy DEA model (DRF-DEA) with ‎common weights (using...

Performance Analysis of Decision Trees

In data mining, decision trees are considered to be most popular approach for classifying different attributes. The issue of growing of decision tree from available data is considered in various discipline like pattern recognition, machine learning and data mining. This paper presents an updated survey of growing of decision tree in two phases following a top down approach. This paper presents ...

Using decision trees within the tilt intonation model to predict F0 contours

This paper presents an intonation generation system for use in a text-to-speech synthesis system. The intonation generation system uses classification trees to predict intonation event location and regression trees to predict parameters relating to the F0 shape for the predicted events. The decision trees model intonation within the Tilt intonation model, which provides a parameterized descript...
